CM recommends contract to friends company without going out to bid
Posted on Saturday, May 10, 2008 @ 18:40:27 EST by admin

Geniuses at Work

$49,000 to a company that doesn't know if its qualified to do the work

Monday 5/12 -- NUMBER 3 VIDEO on the mayor's remark about employees now posted on next page

City manager Robert Baldwin recommended his friends company without going out to bid. Matrix rep (right) didn't know if they were qualified

No one in the city... not city manager Robert Baldwin, not Administrative Services Director Mark Bates and the commission as well ...have any knowledge of the utility which constitutes 3/4ths of our budget and yields over 6 times more income than Ad Valorem taxes. An yet, they have been willing to make 30 and 40 year commitments involving well over a billion dollars (over that period).

So Mr Vespo would rather spend $49,000 of your money for yet another study instead of spending some time learning what he should know before he commits the people to long term agreements and millions of dollars. Perhaps he should speak with utility staff and employees before he and the mayor said they were unqualified, not objective enough and basically couldn't be trusted to know how the utility could be run better. Yet they all were willing to trust Samy Faried, an outsider who consistently misled the commission into millions in wasted expenditures. And they seem quite willing to trust the recommendations of CM Baldwin and Administrative services director Mark Bates who also led us into millions in waste along with Faried... and neither has any utility experience. So, who's watching the store?

Can anything be more screwed up than this city? Seriously.

I want to add my thought to this. There are probably a few people who live here that could turn this City around, at least I hope so. Will you come forward? But then again, you would more than likely have to have rocks in your head and you would have a short life due to high blood pressure and anxiety caused by a highly stressful job.

from the looks of the top people attempting to run the city, it must be highly stressful. All of them lack food management skills so I guess it isn't too surprising they can't manage the city very well either.

Sunydaze--when you said lack food management skills did you mean "good" management skills or was this written correctly?
