Black and White

It really was one side against the other last night at City Hall regarding the vote of a Resource Center for illegal aliens at our shuffleboard Court. Those who voted it in, saying it was going to solve the loitering problem of day laborers on our city streets, were Commissioner Jennings, Golden and the swing vote, Mayor Clemens. The two who spoke from the CRA were only upset because they were never consulted and were the only two who did not take a position. Chairs of all major Boards were not present. I saw few Presidents of Homeowner’s Associations. This really is politics at its best or at its worst, take your pick, black and white.

The Mayor even went so far as to stretch his reason for the Center by saying he wanted the streets cleaned up for the business owners on Lake and Lucerne. What he meant to say was the streets cleaned up for Mr. and Mrs. George. The rest of the businesses cater to the illegals on that side of town so I doubt if they had any clout in the Mayor’s assessment. Commissioner Golden was totally silent throughout the process. Commissioner Vespo voted no because of zoning but was for the concept of a hiring center.

All had their minds made up before coming into the chamber but the Mayor allowed everyone to speak, even a professed illegal (who asked me after taking a photo of Chief Blockson why I didn’t take a shot of the little kids accepting an award as if that was some sort of social discriminating act) appearing to bend over backwards to do so, taking comment cards during public participation on the topic, something normally not allowed by him. He asked a couple of people where they lived, jotting it down in his notes as if to say, “Well, you don’t even live here. What do you know?” He never asked if someone was illegal? He will now be able to say that he allowed the people to speak, staying there 4 hours to do so.

Mayor Clemens was the most powerful person on the dais last night. He knew it. It did show through. He knew how he was voting before he took his seat as did they all--The legal Americans who will now have to live with the consequences of a sanctuary city and those footing this bill be damned. If anything should have been voted upon in this city, it was that.

The voice of the socialists and hippies prevailed. Our city is doomed. You think it bad now. Just wait. One of those illegals at the shuffleboard court told a senior that it was their court now, move on.

Another 3 to 2 vote. Shannon was right though, they all knew what their vote was long before the meeting started, it usually shows in the voting history. Look back, you'll see. I'm amazes at the folks that drove over here from Ft. Myers; that conviction. As much as some like the usual 3/2 vote, this one could really change the dynamics of our west of Dixie area. Think about that when you step into the voting booth in November.

I will be definitely thinking about that in November. Too bad we have to put up with Jeff one more year. This will change all of LW, not just the western area. We will be known as the dumping ground for illegals. What a great thing to be famous for.

The one thing that I will NEVER get over, is the Chamber filled with those devoted to the promotion of human welfare and to social reforms at the expense of legal Americans, calling us every name from Nazi to racist...John using those little kids was shameful. A nun who lied. What can be worse than that? This will not be forgotten by me--not ever. It will be difficult to support anyone backed by these people. I had a headache last night. I awakened with the same headache. I have felt sick all day. Our country is being invaded and our city is no longer ours. The illegals stick it in our faces and tell us to shove it. These fine people who support them are the ones who are scary. To hand over our city to illegals is criminal. I don't like anyone who breaks the law and that includes Commissioners and Mayors. I am going to digest what happened over several days before I make a decision as to whom I will support going forward. This is more than just disagreeing on one issue. It is just not that simple anymore.

What awful choices. On one hand I have someone who wants to give away our beach. On the other hand I have someone who wants to give away my country. The venom and hate spewing last night from the pro illegal immigration side was an eye-opener. They kept holding up Native Americans as the standard. If we take ANY lesson away from our Native American brothers and sisters it should be this one;They were losers when it came to defending their lands against outside invaders.

I have always admired Cara jennings until this. She was not thinking about americans but rather the rights of those who have invaded our city and country. Those people don't have rights as far as I am concerned. Jennings, Golden and Clemens forgot who they represent, the taxpayer. As far as Lowe and Vespo, they never said that they were against the idea of a hiring hall. Playing politics is not right here. The law prevails, not these 5 people.

My comments re. Immigration;

With all due respect to those in disagreement;

Enforcement of Immigration Policy is a federal issue.

The U.S. Immigration system is broke.

There are laws against Employers Hiring undocumented workers.

"Illegal" Employers receive little of the vitriol aimed at undocumented workers.

Pitting low-income workers against one another is an old politrick.

Immigrants (documented and undocumented) have been vital to our society, enriching us materially, artistically and spiritually.

Given the mess we're in, what we need is unity, compassion and understanding for one another. Immigrants are not the enemy; ignorance, division and money influence over public policy is the source of most of the failures in our society. Punishing "illegal" men, women and children will not save us. We need more love and compassion for one another and less taking the bait of divide-and-conquer politricks.

My thanks to the Administrator for this wonderful resource.
