HOODOO Voodoo on 11th Avenue N

Opinion

HOODOO, VOODOO on 11th AVE N

This is what we found the other day while out campaigning. We had seen the property earlier wondering if it was inhabited by vampires. It was sort of creepy. It had about 6 old junk cars on it, a truck and a motorcycle and the weeds were 4 feet high. The mailbox looked like termites had eaten it.

The next day, we went back to the house trying to spot gaunt, pale people with long fingernails but instead, directly across the street from this property, was a vehicle with a Voodoo sign! Yup, our first impression was correct.

We have to wonder if the neighbors are shaking in their boots, scared to report this property to Code. "Hoodo" this? Someone, anyone, put a little “spell” on this owner and get him to clean up his act.

I went and saw this property, and believe it or not,the picture makes it look ten times better than it does in real life. Come on people ! There were well kept homes around this disgrace. How come the neighbors didn't report this to code ? Were they scared of retaliation by the owners of this(Literally )dump ? Anyone in town can request that their Commissioner turn in a complaint for them, that way they don't have to worry. We all have the responsibility of keeping up our neighborhoods. And no,I'm not talking about us all becoming yard Nazis to intimidate people we don't like.Properties like the one in this story can bring down an entire neighborhood, and they shouldn't be tolerated. So what if you have to keep checking back with code. Our town is worth it.

I drove down that street doay. It does look a whole lot worse than this photo. It is a dreadful mess. I feel sorry for these neighbors. Tropical Ridge blighted properties are paradise next to this.
